FAQ’s

Who are the mentors in the program?

  • Our mentors come from diverse backgrounds just like our mentees. They are regular people, just like you. You don’t need any special degrees or job skills. You just have to want to positively impact a young person. Role models come in all shapes and sizes, and you could be a perfect fit.

Why should I become a mentor?

  • Share valuable knowledge based on your own experience
  • Gain an understanding of the struggles young people are facing today and be a support
  • for them as they navigate through these struggles
  • Motivate and support someone to fulfill their potential
  • Be a positive role model and influence on the youth in the community

What are the criteria for becoming a mentor?

  • You can commit to 2 hours a week for at least a year
  • You are 19 years of age or older
  • Reside in Southwest Saskatchewan
  • Have not been convicted of a criminal offence in the past 10 years

When can I see my Mentee?

  • As a mentor/mentee team, you decide when and what you want to do and then your mentee gets approval form his or her parent. We recommend that you keep a consistent schedule of outings and get together on a regular basis. The outings will also depend on the comfort level of your mentee’s parents, your mentee, and you.

Will I become a replacement parent?

  • No, mentee’s have a parent or guardian in their life already. What they need is a mentor to spend quality, one-on-one time with them. Someone to have fun with, someone they can confide in, someone like you!
