Layne Pethick, PhD—”The Brain Nerd with a Passport”—has spent over three decades diving deep into the mysteries of the human brain. As a Behaviour and Autism Spectrum Disorders Master Consultant for the state of Texas and beyond, he dedicates his days to unraveling the “why” behind human behavior. Whether he’s reading up on the effects of screen time or dreaming up his next idea, his passion for neuroscience, learning, and behaviour fuels everything he does.
Throughout his career, Layne has worn many hats—teacher, school administrator, district trainer, program director, professor, and consultant—while collaborating globally in places like Mexico, Hong Kong, Canada, and Vietnam. His work centers on making neuroscience practical and engaging, helping educators, families, and students navigate challenges related to development, learning, behaviour, autism, trauma, mental health, and much more. With a mission to blend insight with humour, Layne’s ultimate goal is to make sense of the human mind—and have a little fun while doing it.
