Youth Mental Health Awareness – Dessert Night Fundraiser

Youth Mental Health Awareness – Dessert Night Fundraiser

The Center is excited to host an event on May 6th for Youth Mental Health Awareness Day. It will be a Dessert Night fundraiser that will see the Center Staff, youth, and various volunteers and supporters come together to bring awareness to Child and Youth Mental Health. We will have silent auction items, desserts, artwork, live music, and much more! Most importantly, we are pleased to welcome back Jim Magee to speak on the subject of youth mental health. With a long career as a counsellor and as the former Executive Director of The Center, Jim has a unique and powerful story that sheds a bright light on this subject. If you’re wanting to reserve tickets act quickly. We have only a limited amount of seating in the Center!

Partnering with Jumpstart

Partnering with Jumpstart

We are Proud to Partner with Canadian Tire Jumpstart to bring more opportunity to youth and children in our community to be able to participate in more activities.

Right now, we have funds available to go towards helping kids in Swift Current get more healthy and active. We all are well aware that sports can be expensive, but Canadian Tire Jumpstart is an amazing program that allows for a certain amount of funds per child to be able to participate in a sport or activity of their choosing. It’s a way of helping out families, it’s a way to encourage participation, it’s a way for kids to have the necessary equipment to take part in something they love or are interested in doing.

Please contact me (Nathan) at The Center (nathan@sccyi.ca) or call (773-3344) for more info! Any and all questions are encouraged to be asked!

CENTER PERK Coffe Shop Coming SOON!

CENTER PERK Coffe Shop Coming SOON!

We are proud and excited to announce the opening of The Center’s very first coffee shop around the end of September, middled of October area!

This coffee shop will be running year round, and be operated by youth Grades 10-12. With that, we will also have quality mentors working along side the youth, teaching them the ‘in-and-outs’ of how to function in the service industry. These positions will be paid positions, and will function within the After-school and Weekend Drop-in hours of The Center for youth.

The positions for youth will be 6-8 month periods. The idea for Center Perk is to employ youth, get them training within the service industry, and then assist them in finding another job. They will be able to work within the coffee shop until another job is found. We want youth that might not have been given a chance to be able to learn different skills. This job will add to their resume, and provide a positive work environment to instills confidence moving forward.

Stay tuned for the opening of the application process and do not be afraid to contact Nathan for more details, nathan@sccyi.ca.
